St. Lawrence Primary School – Book Donation

Bundle of books to be donated!

Bundle of books to be donated!

On Friday, December 2, 2016, we had the absolute pleasure of presenting children’s books to the St. Lawrence Primary School. These books were selflessly donated by friends of the Yellow Bird Family who jumped at the opportunity to pass the joy of reading along to the deserving students of the nearby primary school.

Joining us were our repeat guests Estelle & Leslie Condliff who were visiting from the United Kingdom.  These two sisters have visited Barbados over 25 times and who were recently recognized by the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. for their numerous visits and wanted to make a presentation to the school.

They have stayed with us at the Yellow Bird on at least 10 different occasions!

Before the Presentation

At morning assembly the Management & Staff of Yellow Bird Hotel along with Estelle and Leslie presented Principal Mrs. Andrea Cheltenham with educational posters and stacks and stacks of books to be added to their school library. We toured the school and library and there we brainstormed about other ways to contribute to the school.

We were also blown away by the artwork on display for Barbados’ 50th anniversary of Independence, proudly displayed outside each classroom. The artwork was a breath of fresh air, as we saw the work done by the Nursery & Infant children in close detail. This school has some very talented kids!

St. Lawrence Gap Primary is a relatively small school – only 215 pupils – and it was heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces when we made the presentation.

Keep an eye on this space to see our further involvement with this charming school. Small in size but LARGE in personality.
